Rose-ringed Parakeet is also called the Ring-necked Parakeet. It is distributed in a large range across Afro- Asian region. They are popular as pets. The adult male sports a red neck-ring, where as the female and the immature birds do not have the neck-rings. These are noisy species with unmistakable squawking call.
In the wild, the rose-ringed parakeets usually feed on buds, fruits, vegetables, nuts, berries and seeds. Both the male and the female species, has the ability to mimic human speech.
